ArtQuest welcomes applications from all students across and beyond Sonoma County, accommodating as many students as we can. We approach reviewing applications holistically; looking at all components of the applicant’s completed application. We are looking for a ‘spark’, an enthusiastic and brave attitude, teamed with discipline and a commitment to learn.

At ArtQuest, we offer eight Visual and Performing Arts Specialties. As part of the application process, you will select three Specialties that represent your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice. So, it is important to familiarize yourself with our different Specialties as they align with your creative interests.
Consider signing up for our Shadowing Program where prospective students get a first-hand glimpse of ArtQuest and one of our eight Specialties.
Shadowing will be held from October 10 - 26, 2023 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays only. Shadowing is by appointment only and students must currently be in 8th grade or above to shadow one of our eight specialties.

After reviewing the different specialty portfolio requirements, start working on developing your portfolio, if your first choice is Digital Arts, Photography, Video Arts, or Visual Fine Arts.
If you live outside of the SRHS boundaries or outside the SRCS District, then your parent/guardian must complete an Intra-District Transfer/Open Enrollment (within SRCS) or Inter-District Transfer (outside SRCS). Refer to the Transfer and Open Enrollment section below for detailed instructions.

TRANSFER OR OPEN ENROLLMENT PROCESS: Santa Rosa City School (SRCS) District Portion (Separate from the ArtQuest Application)
Placement in the ArtQuest Program alone does not guarantee that a student will be enrolled at Santa Rosa High School (SRHS).
It is very important that parents initiate the appropriate process for the student’s particular circumstances while preparing the submission of the ArtQuest Application. AQ Admissions decisions will be made in late January 2024, with information about SRHS Enrollment and Course Selection to follow. Applicants will be informed of their AQ acceptance, SRHS acceptance and their SRCS transfer approval separately, starting in Winter 2023-2024.
STUDENTS THAT LIVE WITHIN SRHS ATTENDANCE BOUNDARIES: If student would normally attend SRHS, no transfer is necessary. Complete/submit AQ Application, no additional paperwork required.
STUDENTS THAT LIVE WITHIN SRCS DISTRICT BOUNDARIES: INTRA-DISTRICT: Students that live in the attendance boundaries of Montgomery, Piner, Elsie Allen or Maria Carrillo High Schools must complete an Intra-District Open Enrollment Transfer --Open Enrollment Transfer Window is open: October 1 - November 15, 2023 for 2024-2025 school year enrollment Apply at SRCS Student & Family Engagement (SAFE) ← Click on the link! Designate “Specialized Program” as the reason for transfer request and specify ArtQuest. Print and keep the confirmation page that includes the confirmation number. Public-use computer is available at the Student and Family Engagement (SAFE) Office, 211 Ridgway Ave., Santa Rosa (located behind the SRCS main office building), open Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm. No late, mailed, or faxed applications will be accepted.
STUDENTS THAT LIVE OUTSIDE SRCS DISTRICT BOUNDARIES: INTER-DISTRICT: Students that live outside of the SRCS District boundaries must complete the Inter-District Transfer Application. The Inter-District Transfer Application window for the 2024-2025 school year is February 1 - March 15, 2024. Regardless of the transfer process and requirements of the district office of residence, the ArtQuest Application needs to be submitted by December 8, 2023. Acceptance into ArtQuest does not guarantee enrollment at SRHS. Complete Part A of the Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE) Request for Inter-District Attendance Permit (form available online at www.scoe.org or www.srcschools.org) Submit Request for Inter-District Attendance Permit at the district office of residence. Follow up with the district office of residence to check the status of the transfer request. Parents must also complete and submit the SRCS Inter-District Transfer application online between February 1 - March 15, 2024. SRCS Student & Family Engagement (SAFE) (Note: The new application period for next year’s transfer requests will be posted as soon as announced by SRCS)The inter-district transfer agreement must be approved by both the student’s original district of residence and the district to which the student seeks to transfer (SRCS). Both districts must approve the agreement before it becomes valid. Please note: Inter-District transfers are limited, due to student capacity at SRHS. If approved, the Inter-District may extend for a maximum of five consecutive years and may include specific terms or conditions. Also note: It is within the authority of either the home district or the receiving district to revoke an inter-district transfer agreement at any time for any reason the local board or district superintendent deems appropriate.

The Santa Rosa High School Portion (Separate from the ArtQuest Application) Enrollment/Course Selection Process: Once the student has been accepted into ArtQuest, the SRHS Administration will determine if the student will be able to attend Santa Rosa High School. For students outside the normal SRHS attendance boundaries, enrollment at SRHS is contingent upon adequate vacancy at SRHS, an appropriate transfer approval if applicable, placement in AQ and other pertinent factors to be determined by the SRHS Administration.
